Fuzzy Region Competition: A Convex Two-Phase Segmentation Framework
نویسندگان
چکیده
We describe a novel framework for two-phase image segmentation, namely the Fuzzy Region Competition. The functional involved in several existing models related to the idea of Region Competition is extended by the introduction of a fuzzy membership function. The new problem is convex and the set of its global solutions turns out to be stable under thresholding, operation that also provides solutions to the corresponding classical formulations. The advantages are then shown in the piecewise-constant case. Finally, motivated by medical applications such as angiography, we derive a fast algorithm for segmenting images into two non-overlapping smooth regions. Compared to existing piecewise-smooth approaches, this last model has the unique advantage of featuring closedform solutions for the approximation functions in each region based on normalized convolutions. Results are shown on synthetic 2D images and real 3D volumes.

SAR Image Segmentation Based on Fuzzy Region Competition Method and Gamma Model
In this paper, we present a novel variational framework for multiphase synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image segmentation based on the fuzzy region competition method. A new energy functional is proposed to integrate the Gamma model and the edge detector based on the ratio of exponentially weighted averages (ROEWA) operator within the optimization process. To solve the optimization problem effic...
متن کاملFuzzy convergence structures in the framework of L-convex spaces
In this paper, fuzzy convergence theory in the framework of $L$-convex spaces is introduced. Firstly, the concept of $L$-convex remote-neighborhood spaces is introduced and it is shown that the resulting category is isomorphic to that of $L$-convex spaces. Secondly, by means of $L$-convex ideals, the notion of $L$-convergence spaces is introduced and it is proved that the category of $L$-con...
متن کاملConvex Color Image Segmentation with Optimal Transport Distances
This work is about the use of regularized optimal-transport distances for convex, histogram-based image segmentation. In the considered framework, fixed exemplar histograms define a prior on the statistical features of the two regions in competition. In this paper, we investigate the use of various transport-based cost functions as discrepancy measures and rely on a primaldual algorithm to solv...

Telecommunications is the todays’ leading industry. Value Added Services (VAS) is considered as one of the most money making segments of Telecom services. The purpose of this paper is to allocate promotional marketing strategies to customer segments. Therefore, a four-phase practical framework is developed to prioritize marketing strategies based on Customer Lifetime Value (CLV). The first phas...
متن کاملImage Segmentation based on Fuzzy Region Competition
In this work, we studied variational models for image segmentation present in literature, in which will be discussed its mathematical formulations and characteristics of minimization processes. Among these techniques, it will be explored the method Fuzzy Region Competition and segmentation models that can be derived from its energy functional. Inspired by this method, three modifications were p...
